Abstract: 

AI is increasingly embedded in our lives, even in highly regulated industries such as banking and finance. Financial institutions are becoming more advanced in the use of AI technologies to better understand their customers, grow their business, and improve their operations. However, the use of AI can lead to unintended consequences e.g. privacy, biasness, unfairness. To address such issues, regulators are introducing guidelines, such as the Monetary Authority of Singapore (FEAT principles) and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.

Session Outline:
This presentation aims to share recommendations on the implementation of Responsible AI, focusing on the following:

- What are the main issues around the use of AI?
- What is Responsible AI? What are the key principles?
- How can we achieve Responsible AI? How can we do this in a systematic way?

Bio: 

Sigrid is Global Director for Data Analytics and Data Science in transaction banking at Standard Chartered. She recently joined Standard Chartered in 2020 as part of the Digital and Data Analytics team to lead the establishment and development of the data analytics capability for trade finance which is at the forefront of the business’ digital transformation. Sigrid is driving the identification and development of data -driven solutions with advanced analytics (AI, ML), allowing to provide personalized products to end customers, to have a deeper understanding of customer risk profiles and to identify sustainable trade finance opportunities.

Sigrid is regularly invited to speak at conferences at various forums in Singapore and overseas. She is also deeply interested in Innovation and continuously brings in new methodologies to the bank. Sigrid is also active in the startup community as an advisor and mentor and is part of the 2020 Singapore Fintech Festival mentoring program. She has coached, trained and guided many young aspiring data scientists at different stages of their careers, both in Singapore and overseas (including GDEXA https://www.gdexa.com/global-mentorship/).

Prior to Standard Chartered, Sigrid worked in various industries including Research, FMCG and Telco. Her most recent appointment was to head the data science team at the Singapore Exchange (SGX) where she led the establishment and development of the data science, machine learning & visualization capabilities across the company. Sigrid holds an engineering degree (Hons) in Agronomy, Bio-engineering and Statistics from AgroParisTech, INA P-G, Paris, France (top institute of higher education in life sciences in France), a Masters degree (Hons) in Probability and Statistics from AgroParisTech/ Universite Paris-Sud/Ecole Normale Superieure, Paris, France and a PhD in Biostatistics (Hons) from University Paris-Sud, Paris, France, jointly conducted with Genome Institute of Singapore, A*STAR in Singapore.
