Abstract: Data Science is becoming more and more popular. It covers a variety of topics and requires a broad range of skills. R is a programming language dedicated to working with data. The platform offers numerous libraries and implementations of machine learning algorithms, which makes it a perfect tool for exploratory data analysis, presenting the results of inquiries and data science in general. In this talk, Barbara will make an introduction to machine learning and R capabilities in a field of data science. Along with the language basics session will cover specific data applications built around common problems of supervised and unsupervised learning. Barbara will show how to prepare data, perform learning computations and present the results. During this session, the audience will gain basic knowledge on using R when working with data. Attendees will find out how to follow the process of machine learning. Finally, they will learn various ways of applying R when preparing the data, running computations and presenting graphical results.
Bio: Barbara is a Data Scientist with strong software development background. While working with a variety of different companies, she gained experience in building diverse software systems. This experience brought her focus to the Data Science and Big Data field. She believes in the importance of the data and metrics when growing a successful business.
Alongside collaborating around data architectures, Barbara still enjoys programming activities. Currently speaking at conferences in-between working in London. Tweets at @BasiaFusinska and blogs on http://barbarafusinska.com.
