Abstract: We are living in unprecedented times with the forced shutdown of the in-person economy. But this can also be viewed as a major, government-mandated shift to a fully digital lifestyle. In this kind of chaotic environment, companies can lose focus on why they decided to put data capability and intelligence at the heart of their strategy. As data teams we are not always good at talking to the C-suite and explaining the value that we are unlocking for the wider business - but that kind of communication is essential in a time like this. In my talk I will outline some ways in which we can articulate the value that we are delivering, and present some strategies for actually deepening that value, for example by: moving from backward to forward data deployments; breaking down functional data silos; piloting the killer app that everybody says couldn't be done.
