Abstract: Data science and advanced analytics are becoming increasingly common in healthcare delivery and biomedical research. However, most applications are designed in laboratories and are not built to scale for production workflows. In this session, we will demonstrate a use case based on real-time, streaming healthcare data and how various applications in the data science toolkit can be used to build coordinated, production-grade software and workflows. We will demonstrate the tools and best practices for each step of the workflow, including data acquisition, validation, storage, and analysis. At the end of the presentation, individuals should be able to identify the tools needed and develop solution architectures that can be used within their own projects. An optional hands-on step involving synthetic patient data in standard healthcare formats will also be provided to develop a laboratory-based use case during the session.
