Abstract: Just as we’ve gotten settled into best practices for software design and delivery across a variety of platforms (desktop, web, mobile, cloud), we get another ""opportunity"" thrown in the works: AI and machine learning.
<30% of AI projects are seeing the light of the “in production” day, despite many showing extremely positive results. AI can and should have better numbers than this. AI can and should fit into our regular software and systems development processes.
The core problem… most companies are trying AI as a new “beast”, when they should be integrating AI into their normal development and IT processes. This talk will go through what is different about adding AI into your software, while also highlighting what is the same – so you know what not to change! I’ll cover the diffs on:
• Product (project) selection to definition
• Who plays what roles
• Users gonna use – or not
• How to drive simplicity in complexity
• Business change versus tech change
• The tech hype cycle
AI tools and techniques will be covered alongside software development tools and techniques.
